Nineteen – 200 South Broad Street,Philadelphia,PA,19102

January 27 sparks Philadelphia’s Restaurant week, which runs through till Feb 1st. A Full list of participating restaurants can be found at Opentable.com

Ashley and I choose to try Nineteen (XIX), which is located on the 19th floor of the Hyatt Hotel on South Broad Street. There is a parking garage located directly next to the hotel, and discount parking rate are available for people going just for dinner. (Found that out after we left of course, so we paid $16 compared to $9). Ashley choose XIX because, Ashley sells them fresh and amazing organic greens from her farm (Blue Moon Acres)

When the door first open you are greeted by a great room with a dome ceiling. A very large and wide open space with plenty of cushioned seating and chair seating as well. The lighting is dim and romantic with a very personable staff. As we were walked to our table, we passed through a bar area with a fireplace, perfect for a glass of scotch or a cocktail. After entering our seating area we had a window seat that overlooked the city, simple a beautiful view.

Our server was spectacular and recommend the Monk Fish as an entree. I couldn’t pass his recommendation up, and I’m glad that I didn’t.  The rest of the items on the restaurant week menu look delicious and they were. Portions were as expected for restaurant week. At $35 a person, I did leave hungry but my taste buds were happy. My entree came with some mashpotatos, but they could have scraped the pot a little more and gave me some extra. That last little bit of extra potato’s would have held me over.

Overall, I had a great time and really enjoyed the evening. Even if the food was horrible, and the service was poor, it wouldn’t have matter, because a night out with Ashley is always worthwhile :D .
